THE 2018-2019 MASL SEASON KICKS OFF NOVEMBER 30
KANSAS CITY (September 25, 2018) – The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) is set to kick off the league’s fifth season with an incredible 10-game Opening Weekend slate, beginning with the Orlando SeaWolves hosting the St Louis Ambush at 7:35pm ET and the Ontario Fury welcoming the Turlock Express at 10:00pm ET on Friday, November 30, 2018. That leads into the full 204 game schedule for the MASL’s seventeen teams.
16 of the 17 teams in the MASL are featured on Opening Weekend, including Ian Bennett and the explosive Milwaukee Wave facing off against the Kansas City Comets and their new goalkeeper Brett Petricek on December 1 at 7:05pm ET at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
The defending champion Baltimore Blast will welcome the league’s newest team, the Mississauga MetroStars on December 1 at 6:00pm ET from the SECU Arena. Championship game MVP William Vanzela will be back in the goal for the Blast as he tries to shut down the MetroStars leader, Dwayne DeRosario, in their inaugural match.
Utica City FC and will get its first taste of MASL action when the Blast make the trip to upstate New York on Sunday December 2 at 2:00pm ET at the Adirondack Bank Center.
Opening Weekend comes to a close when last year’s MASL Finalists, the Monterrey Flash introduce their prize offseason acquisition, Franck Tayou, to the home crowd as they host the El Paso Coyotes on Sunday, December 2 at 6:05pm ET.
The MASL opens its Canadian schedule a week later as Mississauga’s Paramount Fine Foods Centre Arena plays host to the inaugural home match for the MetroStars home debut against the Florida Tropics at 3:05pm ET.
The San Diego Sockers are the last team to open their 2018-2019 schedule. They will begin their season at the Valley View Casino Center Arena on December 16 when they host the RGV Barracudas at 8:05pm ET.
MASL Commissioner Joshua Schaub said, “Last year was exciting from the opening day right to the championship game in Monterrey. This year’s schedule could be even better. With teams being focused on their conference, each regular season game becomes a must-win.”
This season, teams will play a 24-game schedule (12 home, 12 away) within their conferences to determine playoff positioning. Each team will play their divisional foes a minimum of four times, the rest of the schedule will be filled with matchups from the other division in their conference.
