GREATER TORONTO AREA-BASED TEAM TO DEBUT THIS FALL
Club Emblem Revealed Today;
Team Name, Jersey, Executive Unveiled at Official Launch Event Wed. Sept. 12
TORONTO - After a year of test marketing the sport of arena soccer, Gladiator Sports Media Entertainment Corp. announced today that Canada’s first Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) franchise will be unveiled next month and will begin play this fall. Gladiator Sports will operate a new expansion club in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in the 17-team MASL, the premier North American arena league that includes teams in the United States and Mexico.
Gladiator Sports also revealed today the official club emblem of the new franchise, which will be an integral part of the initial promotional campaign and will be distributed across various social media platforms and traditional media outlets in the weeks to come.
In 2017, Gladiator Sports founded the Canadian Arena Soccer Association (CASA) and, under the auspices of CASA, three exhibition arena matches, featuring the first ever Canadian National Arena Team, were staged in the GTA. The success of those three friendlies paved the way for the introduction of the new Canadian pro franchise in the MASL.
The new club will play its home games at the newly renamed Paramount Fine Foods (formerly Hershey) Centre in Mississauga, ON. The team name, jersey and executive will be unveiled at the official launch event Wednesday, September 12 at 11:00 am at the Noel Ryan Auditorium in the Mississauga Central Library, 301 Burnhamthorpe Rd. West, Mississauga, ON.
“Gladiator Sports is proud to be the preeminent sports organization in Canadian Arena Soccer,” said Gladiator Sports Founder & CEO Serge Giancola. “The inclusion of the arena game as part of Canadian soccer culture is an untapped avenue. There is an achievable goal now. There are added resources and the arrival of a MASL franchise will allow for the development of Canadian players at home.”
“The arena game is affordable, family entertainment and this new franchise can help fill the void during the long winter months,” Giancola continued. “Gladiator Sports stands ready to assist Canadian soccer in raising the level of play for many years to come.”
The ‘Blue & Orange’ will begin play in the MASL for the upcoming 2018/19 season in late fall. Information on season ticket packages will be announced at the official launch event.
